    Tom Preston Barnwell, Sr. 69, of Dillingham Circle, Asheville, died Tuesday in the Asheville VA Medical Center. Barnwell, a native of Henderson County, was a son of the late James Erwin and Annie Taylor Barnwell. He was a private security guard and a member of the American Legion, DAV and Oakley Gospel Tabernacle. Surviving are his wife, Marie Burchfield Barnwerr; three sons, Steve, George and Tome Barnwell, Jr. all of Asheville; a sister, Edith Justice of Hendersonville; four brothers, Joe Barnwell of Hendersonville, Finley Barnwell of Edneyville, Marvin James Barnwell of Ozark, Ala., and Edgar Barnwell of Fort Pierce, Fla; and three grandchildren. Services will be a 2 p.m. Friday in Williams Funeral Service chapel. The Rev. Ray Woodby will officiate. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
