    Brumfield, James R. 82, of South Charleston, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2013. He was born on April 7, 1931 in Springfield, the son of the late Lester and Mary June (Riley) Brumfield. He graduated from Catholic Central High School class of 1949 and then served our country in the United States Army Reserve. Jim retired from International Harvester after 32 years of service as a Supervisor. Through his wife Rebecca and his father-in-law, Corless Custer, Jim became well acquainted with horses as he spent many years helping his wife and daughter raise and show horses all over the country. He also co-owned B & B Carriage Service. He was past president of the Ohio Paint Horse Club, a longtime official for the All American Quarter Horse Congress, and former Director of the American Paint Horse Association. Jim enjoyed hosting neighborhood "pig roasts" and going to area auctions. He never met a stranger and would "lend a hand" to anybody. He was also preceded in death by his wife Rebecca and his brother Joe Brumfield. Jim is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law: Diana L. Carper, DVM, RN of Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Diana L. and Mark Jobe of Springfield; several nieces and nephews, and special friends: Kay and Bill Marinich, Louise and Don Berrier, Carla and Harold Funderburgh, and Lori Wolcott. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 from 5-7:00 p.m. in the LITTLETON & RUE FUNERAL HOME where services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Ken Woode officiating. Burial will be in the Ferncliff Cemetery. You may express condolences at www.littletonandrue.com
