Carla Kay Thompson, 58, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010. Service: 1 p.m. Friday at Broadway Baptist Church, Dr. Brent Beasley, officiant. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, her family would appreciate donations to the Vic and Carla Thompson Scholarship Fund, benefiting the Fort Worth Stock Show Calf Scramble, 8235 Douglas Ave., Suite 720, Dallas, Texas 75225; or Vitas Hospice, 2501 Parkview Drive, Suite 600, Fort Worth, Texas 76102. Carla was born Dec. 3, 1951, in Fort Worth, daughter of Charles Theo and Mary Cavender Cantrell. She graduated from Eastern Hills High School in 1970 and attended Texas Wesleyan College. In May 1973, she married Vic Thompson and they were blessed with three sons. Vic died in December 1994. Carla married Gordon Mac Phail on Oct. 6, 2001, and they recently celebrated their ninth anniversary. In addition to Vic, Carla was preceded in death by her father, Charles Theo Cantrell. Survivors: Her husband, Gordon Mac Phail; sons, Theo Thompson and Rachel Buchanan, Tim Thompson, Trent Thompson and his wife, Kara, Mason Mac Phail and his fiancee, Cassidy Pressley, and Kahler Mac Phail and his wife, Fallon; grandson, Trent Cantrell Thompson Jr; mother, Mary Cantrell; brother, Gary Cantrell and his wife, Karen; sisters, Rosemary Strode and her husband, Jim, and Sandra Hampton and her husband, Matt; extended family members; and Carla's pups, Sport and Spur. Carla's family will always be grateful to Cynthia Kennard, who took such loving care of her.
