    Mrs. Bailey was born Feb, 9, 1924 in Jasper County, a daughter of Alva and Bessie Clark Allen. She married Millard C. Bailey, Jan 19, 1946 in Louisville Ky. He survives.

    Also surviving are five sons. Gary and Ronald, both of Mount Pulaski. Steven and Glenn, both of Lincoln, and Denis of Atlanta. Two daughters, Jo Ann Cravens, Springfield and Jeanne Bailey, Lincoln. Two Brothers, Carl Allen, Newton and Don Allen, Decatur. A sister, Rosalie Cunningham, Monee and 12 grandchildren

    Mrs. Bailey was a member of Mount Pulaski Christian Church.1

    Garlen Dale Pickens of Dieterich, IL and former resident of Indianapolis, IN passed away at 6:40 PM, Monday, October 20, 2008 at his home.

    Garlen was born on August 9, 1940 in Effingham, IL, the son of Loren and Neva Ruth (Whitehurst) Pickens. Garlen retired from Eli Lilly and Co. in 1994 after 23 years of service. He also worked for the town of Speedway and the Zionsville Police Department.

    Garlen was a very active in community as well as many civic organizations. He was a member of the Winterrowd Masonic Lodge #664 where he was Junior Warden; Valley of So. IL Scottish Rite; Ainad Shrine Temple; Jasper County Shrine Club; Effingham Heart Shrine Club; Clay County Shrine Club; Effingham County 911 Board, Dieterich Education Foundation member; appointed Deputy Sheriff of Effingham County; former member of the Lynnhurst Masonic Lodge #723 and the Murat Shrine Temple in Indianapolis and was a Nascar fan. He was a former trustee for the Village of Dieterich and had served as a former Deputy for the Effingham County Coroner's office. Garlen was a member of the Dieterich Christian Church and a former member of the Chapel Rock Christian Church in Indianapolis where he was an elder.

    Garlen is survived by three daughters, Shelia (John) Giblin of Avon, IN, Shelley (Tom) Creech of Clayton, IN, Sheri (Brian) Walker of Clayton, IN; brother, Gary (Karen) Pickens of N. Salem, IN; and 11 grandchildren.

    Garlen was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Janet Ruth Traub.1
