    Elmer H. Neibert, 89, of Springfield died at 3:55 a.m. Sunday at the Dirksen House.

    He was born in Athens July 29, 1899, the son of Alvey and Bertha Hornback Neibert. Before his retirement in 1965, he was an assistant superintendent of the Springfield Post Office.

    He was a member of the Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church.

    Surviving are his wife, Ethel; one son, Jack of Greensboro, N.C; two daughters, Patricia Toland of Springfield and Lucretia Gunnett of Willits, Calif; one sister, Lillian Fairchild of Athens; two grandsons; five great-granddaughters; and several nieces.

    Bisch Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
