Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Dickey Chapel, Harrisonville; burial in Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, Mo. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the chapel. Mr. Horner was born in Austin, Mo., and lived in Illinois most of his life; he moved to Marion in 1992. He was a wholesale International Harvester farm implement salesman in Illinois befo re he retired. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Jean Horner of the home; three sons, Richard Horner, Fountain Valley, Calif., retired Navy Capt. Ronald Horner, Australia, and Thomas Horner, Winnetka, Ill; a daughter , Carol Reed, Blandinsville, Ill; a stepson, William Springer of the home; a brother, Lovel Horner, Pleasant Hill in Cass County; three sisters, Goldie Jones, Harrisonville, Bonnie Highley, Adrian, and Vivian Patterson, Lee's Summit; eight grandchildren ; a stepgranddaughter; four great-grandchildren; and a stepgreat-grandchild.

    Ruby L. Vansandt, 81, Greenwood in Jackson County, died Jan. 18, 1992, at the Lee's Summit Hospital. She was born in Quay, Okla., and had livedin Archie and Adrian in Missouri. She lived in this area most of her life. Mrs. Vansandt was a member of the Greenwood Christian Church. She was a member of the Greenwood Senior Citizens and of the Pleasant Hill Senior Citizens, Pleasant Hill in Cass County. She was a past delegate for the Council of Aging of Western Missouri. Her husband, Vernon Decker Vansandt, former owner of PSC Freight Lines in Lee's Summit, died in 1986. Survivors include a son, Dr. Earl Max Vansandt, Bellevue, Wash; a daughter, Verna Lee Warren, Port St. Lucie, Fla; two brothers, Lovel Horner, Pleasant Hill, and Homer Horner, Marion, Ill; three sisters, Goldie Jones, Harrisonville, Bonnie Highley, Adrian, and Vivian Patterson, Lee's Summit; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Wallace Chapel, Pleasant Hill; burial in Floral Hills East Cemetery, Lee's Summit. Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The family suggests contributions to the church memorial fund.

    Bonnie Maxine (Horner) Highley, 81, Adrian, died April 11, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital in Independence.

    She was born June 11, 1925, in Austin, the daughter of Noah and Nancy Lucinda (Cantrell) Horner. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Archie High School in 1943. After graduation she moved to the Archie/Adrian area.

    June 17, 1943, she married Leroy Highley in Archie.

    In 1950 she and her family moved to Butler and then to the Spruce area in 1958. In 1959, they purchased a farm near Adrian where she resided until her death.

    Mrs. Highley was a homemaker, and had worked at Unity Village in Lee's Summit and at Emerson Drug Store in Adrian.

    She was a member of the Adrian First Baptist Church, Penny Savers Club, L.L.L. Sun-day school class and a 20-year board member of the Adrian Manor Nursing Home.

    Mrs. Highley enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, playing cards and reading. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, especially being able to spend time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed walking, cross-stitching, cooking, sewing and quilting.

    Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leroy; three brothers, Kenneth Horner, Lovel Horner and Homer Hor-ner; and three sisters, Ruby Van-sandt, Goldie Jones and infant sister, Nancy Horner.

    Surviving are three sons, Larry Highley, Drexel, Roger Highley and wife, Pam, and Owen Highley and wife, Sandy, all of Adrian; a daughter, Nan-cy Summers and husband, Kent, Clinton; a sister, Vivian Patterson and husband, Chester, Lee's Summit; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

    Services were April 16 at the First Baptist Church in Adrian with Pastor Ben Chapman officiating.

    Burial was in the Crescent Hill Cemetery, Adrian, under the direction of the Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Adrian First Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.

    Chester L. "Pat" Patterson, 85, Lee's Summit, died Feb. 1, 2009.

    He was born Sept. 26, 1923, in Holly, Colo., the son of Cordelia A. and Wm. Logan Patterson.

    Mr. Patterson served in World War II in the Army Air Corp as a navigator on a B-29, flying missions over Japan. He flew 21 combat missions as a lead crew. He received two distinguished flying crosses and three air medals.

    At the end of the war, he returned home and married Vivian L. Horner, Nov. 22, 1945.

    In 1950, he became the Phillips 66 distributor in Lee's Summit and the founder of Patterson Oil Company.

    He was active in the First Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, Sunday school superintendent, chairman of the personnel committee and a member of the finance committee. He was the owner of the Green Bowl for many years and was an avid bowler.

    Mr. Patterson was one of the founding members of the Lee's Summit Rotary Club. He worked on many community projects including Lee Haven Senior Housing, board of directors at John Knox and steering committee for Lee's Summit Hospital.

    He was a breeder and exhibitor of Missouri Foxtrot Horses. In 1988, he won the amateur owned and trained championship for the breed.

    Preceding him in death were his parents; and two brothers, Clarence and Clyde Patterson.

    Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Vivian; daughter, Gail Yaple, Harrisonville; sons, Victor Patterson, Olathe, Kan., and Chris Patterson and wife, Janice, Harrisonville; seven grandchildren, Jill Finn, Paul, Brian and Matthew Yaple, and Lane, Chad and Cody Patterson; and six great-grandchildren, Hope, Hannah, Brittany, A.J., Lauren and Allison.

    Services were Feb. 4 at the Langsford Funeral Home, Lee's Summit. Burial was in the Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee's Summit.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
