He was Sergeant in Captain Mosely's Company, Colonel John Mosely's Regiment, from September 21 to Oct 17, 177 7, which marched to Saratoga. He was commissioned May 31, 1779 as 2nd Lt of the 3rd Company, Colonel John Mosel's (3rd Hampshire Company) Regiment of Massachusetts Militia.

Distribution was made to the two sons and three daughters.
