Anecdote Anecdote: Theodore Edwards was present circa 1945, when Wade Blankenship About 1945, Blankenship killed Juanita and her sister Theordora. All are buried in the cemetery on the hill behind church on Clear Branch Road, Unicoi County, Tennessee. There were newspaper articles about the killing and this author has only a faint recollection of the events since I was only 12 at the time. Family gossip indicates that Blankenship returned form the war and in a fit of jealous rage killed them both and took his own life. Need to research the Erwin and Johnson City papers for this to confirm the story.
(2. Lori Edwards in an e-mail letter dated 8/20/00 reports a similar tale. She obtained the information from Betty Hensley, a great aunt of her husband. According to Lori, Wade was distraught over the divorce of Juanita, and, on the night of the murder, was drunk. He encountered Juanita, her brother Ted, her sister-in-law Gertha and her current boy friend Wayne Foster on the road to Erwin. He managed to pull them over, pulled Wayne from the car and shot him twice. He then shot the others and himself. Wayne lived but the others died. The date was 14 Dec 1945.
