  • Other: on Friday, 8 Jun 1928, Samuel Roscoe Peterson Sam Peterson Is Killed Today At Orient No. 2

    Sam Peterson, 54, was killed at Orient No. 2 early this morning, when he was thrown from the top of the tipple, to the ground about 60 feet below, his body being badly crushed in the fall. Mr. Peterson was employed at the mine as a blacksmith, and was at work on a cage, which had been brought to the top of the tipple to afford him easier access to the damaged parts, and the evident misunderstanding of signals, on the part of the engineer caused the cage to be suddenly lowered, robbing Peterson of his footing, and sending him to his death below.

    Mr. Peterson is survived by his widow, and seven children..5
