  • Anecdote: in 1846, at Union County, GeorgiaG, John Starling Cantrell John and Nancy bought land and began farming and raising a family in Georgia after their marriage. At the outbreak of the civil War, Starling as he was known thought it his duty to join the C.S.A. and did so on Aug 1, 1862 from Calhoun, GA. Starling was killed somewhere between Feb 29, 1864 and April 30, 1864. Nancy stayed on the farm until after the war then moved to Marion County, Alabama were she and the children can be found on the 1870 census. Nancy moved with her son, David and his wife Winnie to Mo. in 1872.1,3
