    William Thomas Cantrell's wife was Willie Adaline York. She married a second time to a James Gill and they had one child, Pearl Marie. After William Thomas died many of Grandma's siblings went into an orphanage. The Uncle Grover, who, is 11 in the 1900 census managed to get all of Grandma's siblings reunited. Grandma was for ever grateful to him and Uncle Grover was important to all of them. As I understand it, John James Cantrell was an Indian Agent. On the 1900 census you see the 2 generations of Cantrell's along with all of the other people involved in the agency. J. F. York is in my Mom's McMahon Bible so I suppose that information came from Grandma Sparks (Lily Cantrell).

    Here are some research notes provided by Karen Godby Shaffstall for Willie Adaline York:

    Name per Eloise & Bill McMahon Bible. Per Eloise McMahon, August 1997, Willie was red headed. After her first husband, "Will", died she married a Mr. Gill and had one girl, Pearl. Lillian was married by this time; Mr. Gill, wouldn't take the rest of Will & Willie's children to raise, except for Gertrude, "who he liked", so Roxie, Autry, John and Birdie ended up in an orphanage. At one time Lillian and their Uncle Grover tried to get them out of the orphanage and raise them.

    Willie's birth and death dates from an old family record sheet that may be a copy of a sheet out of a Bible. Birth place different in the 1920 census [may be that part of AZ & TX were in the same territory at the time of her birth - needs to be researched].

    1920 - U.S. census 1920 Oklahoma Muskogee, Muskogee City, ED 83, sheet 2 household 125. James Gill is the head of the household. Living with her second husband, James Gill, aged 51, she was age 41, her daughter, Gertude aged 19, & daughter Pearle age 4. He was a retail merchant. This record says that she and Gertrude were both born in Texas, but if she was born in Flagstaff it would have been Arizona territory at that time..2
