Roscoe was a construction worker hired by the McGraw Construction Company to help build a U.S. Naval Air Base in Bermuda. The ship was struck by two stern torpedoes from the German submarine, U-66. The total complement aboard was three hundred twenty-two, of those only seventy one survived. Roscoe perished.
