The death of Thomas W. Baugher ocurred Wednesday morning at the homeof his daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Oxford, near Cave-in-Rock. "Uncle Tom" as he was called, was a native of Hardin County and where he had spent the greater part of his 76 years within its borders. His health had not been good for many years. But he was confined in his bed for only a short time before his death. He was held in high esteem by the entire community and there were many who dearly regret his passing. Surviving him are three sons and three daughters: Jeff and Fred Baugher, Sikeston, Missouri, John Baugher, Rosiclare, Mrs. Minnie Oxford, Cave-in-Rock, Mrs. Lizzie Milligan, Shawneetown, and Mrs. Clara Beavers Sikeston, Missouri. There are also 46 living grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, two half-brothers William Winders and Frank Price of Cave-in-Rock and one halfsister Mrs. Alice Blair, Anna, Illinois. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon by the Rev. W.M. Lane at the Mt. Zion church of which the deceased had been a member, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery there.¹
