    BK Luna, 74, owner of Luna & Son Tires passed away Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, at St. Thomas Highlands Medical Center.

    BK was born May 11, 1942, in White County to the late William Ernest & Lucille Turner Luna.

    He was an active member of the community; he started the Pee Wee Football League, was a past president of Sparta Little League, and a 24 year White County Commissioner. He was well known state-wide for his racing career that began in 1956 with the #56. He went on to be a track owner with Sparta Speedway and Tennessee Motor Speedway. BK had a successful business career with his longtime tire store, 56 Auto Sales and an asphalt paving company. He was an avid White County Warrior fan and supporter all of White County schools, never denying a request by a child that would help their school. He was also a walking horse and antique car enthusiast. BK was a member of Indian Mound the Baptist Church.

    In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, William Oakley Luna, Charles M. Luna, Leslie E. Luna and Guy Luna Jr.

    Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jo Stephens Luna; son, Stephen Luna; sisters, Edna “Neve” Rhoton and Virginia “Midge” Taylor; sisters-in-law, Alfidene Luna, Pearl Luna, Joanne Luna and Carolyn Oliver; mother-in-law, Edmonda Stephens; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, from the chapel of Hunter Funeral Home, with burial at Plainview Cemetery at Cassville. Bro. Frank Randolph and Bro. Doug Benningfield will officiate.

    The family will receive friends Tuesday, from 2-8 p.m. at Hunter Funeral Home.

    R.C. Christian, Bill Franklin, Donny Haley, Jerry Denton, Gary Luna, Brent Oliver, Jeff Young, Derrick Hutchings, Sandy Daniels, Ted Maynard, Mike Lynn, Steve Holland, Stacy Daniels, Mike Luna, Barry Smith, Tommy Lynn, Kenneth McCormick and Buddy Swafford will serve as pallbearers.

    Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, 931-836-3211.
