    He was born July 13, 1914, in Galesburg, Ill., to Isaac and Sarah Keller Engle. He married Frances Brown on July 6, 1938, in Eugene.

    Engle was educated through the eighth grade. He worked on county road maintenance.

    Survivors include a son, Jim of Creswell, two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His wife died Aug. 20, 2001.

    Arrangements by Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
