Biography

Item(s)
There are several discrepancies between this data and my own research.

1. The marriage date for Geo. Philipp and Barbara Fuchs (Fox) is 31 Dec 1829 in Kriegsfeld, Germany.

2. According to numerous accounts, Geo. Philipp and family migrated to America in 1837 not 1839.

3. My records show that Philip and Eva (née Stuber) had 11 children.

Overall though the information is great and adds a lot of detail to these very important ancestors. Thank you to the Masons for providing this information.9
1837 An excellent account of the emigration by families from the Rheinland-Pfalz region to the United States of another family at about the same time can be located at: https://sites.google.com/site/johnzinkfamily/their-story.
In 1837, Georg and Barbara immigrated to Kriegsfeld, Donnersbergkreis (Kirchheimbolanden), Rheinland-Pfalz, GermanyB, Emigrated from Bavaria to the United States in 1837. Arrived shortly thereafter at Roscoe, Ohio with $8.50 in his pockets. Moved a short time later to Warsaw, Ohio. Finally settled in Tiverton, Ohio where he was a farmer. At his death he owned a 270 acre farm at Tiverton.

------------------------

Primary reasons for emigration from Germany from 1830 - 1840:
Overproduction, overpopulation, unavailability of land, and the fact that mass-production had replaced the artisan worker caused many to decide to emigrate.

In America at this time it was a period of prosperity. The Jacksonian democracy provided what many Germans had been striving for in vain. Many of the Germans leaving at this time were from the Rhein area of Germany; and they settled extensively in the areas of Ohio, Indiana, and Missouri.
