  • Address: circa 1866, Mary Hoadley was living with David Lindley and Olive B. (née Brockway) Shepard, at Arrow Rock Twp., Saline County, MissouriG. David and Olive moved from Trumbull county Ohio to Arrow Rock, Saline County, Missouri. The family, including Mary Hoadley and Emily Brockway (Olive's youngest sister), arrived at Arrow Rock in March 1866. They and their goods going by boat (named "Itaska") down the Ohio River to the Mississippi and up the Mississippi to its junction with the Missouri River, up the Missouri River to Arrow Rock. Olive's son Guel had gone to Missouri in 1865 looking for land and bought land for himself near Sedelia and for the Shepard's about 1/2 mile south of Arrow Rock. The house was on the Boonville Road. The farm was bought from a St. Louis family, "Hawpe". The house was built of walnut logs, weather boarded outside, laths and plastered interior - we (Lucille Shepard DeReign, granddaughter of Olive. Her father was Frank O. Shepard.) did not know it was logs until it was torn down! It had a parlor, living room, dining room and kitchen in a line and four bedrooms across the hallway. Also living at this address: Emily J. Brockway and Clyde Lindley Shepard.4

  • Address: circa 1866, Emily J. Brockway was living with David Lindley and Olive B. (née Brockway) Shepard, at Arrow Rock Twp., Saline County, MissouriG. David and Olive moved from Trumbull county Ohio to Arrow Rock, Saline County, Missouri. The family, including Mary Hoadley and Emily Brockway (Olive's youngest sister), arrived at Arrow Rock in March 1866. They and their goods going by boat (named "Itaska") down the Ohio River to the Mississippi and up the Mississippi to its junction with the Missouri River, up the Missouri River to Arrow Rock. Olive's son Guel had gone to Missouri in 1865 looking for land and bought land for himself near Sedelia and for the Shepard's about 1/2 mile south of Arrow Rock. The house was on the Boonville Road. The farm was bought from a St. Louis family, "Hawpe". The house was built of walnut logs, weather boarded outside, laths and plastered interior - we (Lucille Shepard DeReign, granddaughter of Olive. Her father was Frank O. Shepard.) did not know it was logs until it was torn down! It had a parlor, living room, dining room and kitchen in a line and four bedrooms across the hallway. Also living at this address: Mary Hoadley and Clyde Lindley Shepard.8

  • Died on Friday, 17 Sep 1847 at Hartford Twp., Trumbull County, OhioG, at age 47 years, 1 month and 27 days. Details as recorded: Cause of Death: Timothy died late in 1848 at Hartford, at Trumbull county, at Ohio. He is said to have died from an accident with a team and a loaded wagon. In a letter from Lucille Shepard to Alice Shepard Jeffrey in 1982 she tells the story this way: "Hoadley had gone to get a load of provisions for winter, overloaded the wagon and was returning (an overnight trip). When he didn't arrive as usual her neighbors went to find what delayed him. The horses had stalled on a steep hill, he had attempted to place a stone to hold the wagon from rolling back - but it rolled over him and crushed him to death. Guel was small and baby girl Mary was born several moths later." The dates do not quite match however..6,7
