  • Other: Sarah Jane Murphy Daughter of Aaron D. and Mary Turner Murphy. Her father was killed on November 8, 1862 during the Civil War. She was only a little over a year old at the time. She was a school teacher in Crawford County when she met and married the Rev. Hiram J. Jones on May 26, 1881 in Robinson, Crawford County, Illinois. After he retired they came out to California and purchased a farm in the Montague Valley in Agers, Siskiyou County, California. She was the mother of 9 children, one who died at the age of two. According to family members Sadie never cut her hair and when it was down it touched the floor. She wore it braided on top of her head. She had red hair, it never turned gray just faded. She was very active for 20 years before her death in the Pentacostal Church after her husband passed away in 1927..1
