  • Military: in Aug 1862, at IllinoisG, Andrew Wells at age 38, began military service, enlisted in Company C, 92nd Illinois Infantry under Capt. William Slouffer.1
  • Military: in Mar 1863, Andrew Wells military service, while serving in the area of Franklin, Tennessee in March of 1863 he contracted typhoid fever. He also had a massive abcess which may have occured from a splinter, piece of metal or any number of things. This was untreated while he was delierious with typhoid. It resulted in a 50% disability due to nerve damage in one leg. He was transferred to a hospital in Chicago, where his wife Eliza tended him, leaving her children with family. He applied for his disability pension in 1874, 1875 and in 1882. His last application was sent in only 3 days prior to his death.1
