    Dorothy Cornett, 81, of Connersville died Saturday evening, June 21, 2008, at Reid Hospital in Richmond, where she had been admitted earlier in the day.

    On July 10, 1926, she was born in Hyden, Ky., to Oscar and Alice Cornett Morgan.

    Dorothy attended school in Kentucky and was married to Theo Cornett in September 1946.

    She had worked in Detroit and in the garment factories in Shelbyville and Rushville. She had also been employed at Philco and the Mari Nella Restaurant, both in Connersville.

    In her leisure, she collected dolls, crocheted and enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. Reminiscing about the "good ol' days" and playing cards with her family was her favorite pastime. She will be missed by her dog, Ozzie, who was her constant companion.

    Dorothy is survived by two sons, Al Cornett of Andersonville and Stanley D. Cornett of Aurora; four sisters, Dolphie Farler and Alice Morgan, both of Hyden, Ky., Viola Moffett of Harrisburg and Carolyn Morgan of Alpine; three brothers and their spouses, Toby and Grace Morgan of Hyden, Ky., Kenneth and Peggy Morgan and Edward Ray Morgan, all of Connersville; five granddaughters, Angela Fowler, Susie Weesner, Lori Ann Higgs, Brooke M. Adams and Tracy Cornett; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson and several nephews and nieces.

    She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, who died May 19, 2002; and two brothers, Willie and Delmar Morgan.

    Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Showalter-Blackwell-Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville, with Brian Powell, minister of New Heights Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery Garden of Memories near Lyonsville. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, where memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Society.
