    Margaret Anna Wagner

    Seaside resident, 83 Margaret Anna Wagner, 83, of Seaside, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2004 in Seaside.

    Mrs. Wagner was born Aug. 1, 1920 in Portland to Charles L. and Harriet Anna Beyers Jones.

    On Aug. 16, 1939, she married Hershall J. Wagner in Kelso, Wash. He died earlier.

    Mrs. Wagner moved to Seaside in 1957, where she and her husband became known to many as "Mom" and "Pop" Wagner. She made all her children's clothes, as well as clothes and uniforms for other family members, friends and businesses. She also worked as a waitress for many years. She canned anything she could and was well known for her crocheting, family members said.

    Her home was filled with collections of wind chimes and figurines of cats, horses, cardinals and angels. She also enjoyed flowers and houseplants and loved animals. Family members said she enjoyed country music.

    Mrs. Wagner is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Delores "Dee" and Pat McDowell of Otis, Hazel Eileen Bishop of Seaside and Dorothy and Bud Applegate of Custer, Wash; a son and daughter-in-law, Hershall "Joe" and Marilyn Wagner of Seaside; a stepdaughter, Darlene Roach of Scappoose; two adopted sons, Mike England of Seaside and Shorty McCoy of Parker Dam, Calif; 16 grandchildren; one stepgrandson; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

    A memorial is 1 p.m. Monday at Hughes-Ransom Mortuary Chapel, 220 N. Holladay Drive in Seaside.

    Memorial contributions may be made to the Emilie Gamelin Fund of Providence Seaside Hospital, in care of Hughes-Ransom Cremation & Mortuaries, 220 N. Holladay Drive, Seaside, OR 97138.
