Anecdote Anecdote: Miles William Powell was present circa 1920, at Vancouver, Clark County, WashingtonG, when Jesse V. Powell married about a year after his first wife, Mary Florence passed away. His son, Elmer Willard, went to live with his deceased wife's parents. Over the next twelve or thirteen years he and his second wife, Lenora M., produced a daughter and four more sons. Lenora passed away in July 1917 shortly after the birth of their son, Harry. In the 1920 census the four sons are all living in a juvenile home in Vancouver. The daughter, Agnes, is living with her Aunt and Uncle and family in Clark County, WA. Jesse is not present. He reappears by himself in the 1930 census. Jesse's headstone shows that he dies in 1934

    Geraldine Copenhagen. A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, in Burlingame Baptist Church in Portland for Geraldine Copenhagen, who died Aug 17 at age 74.

    Mrs. Copenhagen was born Geraldine Wagner on Oct. 4, 1926, in Portland, where she lived all her life. She graduated from Washington High School and owned several businesses, including Gerri's Demo Service and several interior decorating businesses, retiring in the late 1980s. An active member of the church for about 50 years, she was past president of the Portland Christian Women's Club and a senior volunteer for Friendly House for the past eight years. She was honored by Friendly House for her work in 2000. In 1948, she married Don Copenhagen; they divorced.

    Survivors include her daughters, Gail Oxley, Carol Olds, Ruth Price and Elna C. Benbow; sons, Ron and Kris; former husband; and 11 grandchildren.

    Remembrances to the youth programs of her church. Arrangements by Riverview Abbey.
