Maude Emma Robison

TMG ID:8676, (Jan 1879 - )
Relationship:
Grandaunt of Elsie Dora Lewis
Aunt Maude had 2 sons. One of her sons died after eating some poisonous mushrooms. He became very ill and she had no way to take him to the Doctor. She took him to the train depot, but missed the train and had to wait a whole day until the next train. He did not survive the trip.

Every year after that around the 4th of July, Aunt Maude would take out an old red plaid blanket and wrap herself in it and stay in bed for a couple of weeks. No one knew the significance of it. Many years later, it came to light that Maude had cooked the mushrooms that her son had eaten. She had always maintained that he had died of some sort of stomach ailment. The red plaid blanket had been used to wrap him in when he died.

As related by Elva Mercer.

Census-1881 Canada1881, Found a widow, Margray Johnson (45), in Scott, Ontario North, Ontario, Canada. Her birth place is shown as Scotland. She has what appears to be 7 children (6 daughters and 1 son) and one woman (81 years old) with the same first name but last name of Robinson. The older woman's birth place is also Scotland. It is possible that this Mary A. is the second wife of William Alexander Robison. It is possible that they were distant cousins.
